Blinded by the light.

You may have noticed that all my pics are taken at night. Simple explanation. I get up and it's dark outside. I come back from work and it's dark outside. Welcome to my part of the World, during the winter and without the aid of Daylight Savings Time. So I don't have much choice...mind you, I could take some during the week-ends, but I'm too busy sleeping and can't be bothered!!

They came and took it all away!!

In a previous entry, I said I'd keep a log to see how long it would take the city's cleaning crew to clear out the snow from the last storm. Guess what, they did it in a record time...a little under 2 weeks. In this part of the 'hood, that's a bloody miracle.

There's a catch, of course...another 40 cm is expected late Sunday/early morning Monday...AGAIN just in time for the rush hour. AArrgghh! If I happen to bump into 'Ol Man Winter anytime soon, I'm gonna bitch-slap him.

Cheers! Go out there and have fun, for now at least.

I see Parking Ticket$!

Yep, it had to happen, The Man served me for a parking infraction, yessir! What a bloody way to start off the day. I woke up late and I had a feeling..no, I was certain that the Green Onions (that's what we call the city's parking "police") were ready to pounce. Lo and behold, I walked out at 8:10 and what to my wondering eyes would appear, not the Onions but a blue & white vehicle with 2 of Montreal's finest inside, parked behind my car, writing me up. Busted!

I nodded, walked over to the cop car and was presented with a 42 dollar fine. One of the cops said "you're taking it well" Well, what am I supposed to do? Moan and bitch and cry...nah, I'm not from Westmount, I'm not a J.A.P and I would probably look dang awful in a skirt, so, it's no use. Besides, I was in clear violation of the by-law.

I just want to know why we can't park here during that bloody hour and a half, it makes no sense....oh, yeah and why are the cops doing the G.O.'s job busting my ass and not going after real crooks...?

Cheers! Go out there and have fun!

Global Warming...Pfeh!

During the night of Dec. 3rd and part of the day on the 4th, Old Man Winter decided to dump a big 'ole bucket of snow on us; 30-40 cm worth (for the S.I challenged, that's 12-16''). The cleaning crews were not on alert even if they knew this was coming and so, they waited for the rush hour traffic to start basic cleaning (a big loader with side shovels that only pushes the shyte to the sides of the street - so instead of a 45 minute commute, it turned into three and a half hour because the streets went from 3 lanes to 1!) What are the results from said early morning cleaning...these huge snow banks.

The City promised a swift clean-up of the first major 'storm' of the Its-Not-Technically-Winter-Yet 2007 season...and that, I've gotta see! For now, we are playing..."Dude, where/how do we park?" Mind you, the fundamental question becomes..."Do we have enough room to drive?" Holiday Spirit...yeah, up yours!

I live in an area notorious for the absence of basic snow removal. For some bloody reason, the length of the city block were I am seems to be surrounded by an invisible containment field, powered by a miniature black hole. As such, the rest of the street will be cleaned 'cept for our little neck of the woods! I'll keep a log going...we'll see how long it takes!
For now, we're stuck like this poor bastard.

I can't wait for the next one...Bah! Humbug.
