In 1989, Public Enemy were jawin' hard to the inner city youth that they had to unite and Fight the Power. Their manifesto was simple; the root of all Black America's problems came from the fact that the ones in charge were Rich and White. It was never that simple and I won't get into it.
Suffice it to say that The Man had it all, shared nothing and would do anything to have more. Greed, Power and Ambition...a limitless, self-sustaining energy source that has attracted many to IT, like ants to a picnic. Nobody escapes that kind of corruption, ever. One only needs to read a concise history book to understand. Corruption, it seems, has always been color blind. I suppose Chuck D. conveniently forgot that fact while grinding his axe.
For one obvious reason, we can't call Mr. Obama "The Man". Guess we'll find out if we need a new moniker for him after he settles in the Oval Office.
